Information used for a lookup

The server sees your public IP when you visit. IP details use local country/ASN datasets, fixed public DNS resolvers and public registry RDAP services. A hostname lookup sends the hostname to the resolver. Requested public IPs are sent to the relevant registry for registration details, and remote results may be cached privately for up to 24 hours.

DNS reports query public DNS and can make a bounded, certificate-verified HTTPS request to the checked public hostname. Reports do not send email. The optional IPv4/IPv6 connection test contacts ipify only when selected. Reputation links open external services with their own privacy practices.

Anonymous usage measurement

Our first-party measurement counts page views and completed IP/DNS reports in daily aggregates on this server. It uses no analytics cookies, advertising identifiers or cross-site tracking. Analytics records do not contain the IP address, hostname or domain you searched for, visitor IPs or full browser identifiers. Known bot traffic and KSP testing are excluded where identifiable. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals are respected.

Standard webserver access logs are separate and can contain visitor IPs, browser information and requested URLs, including lookup query strings. We periodically prune daily aggregate counts older than 400 days. They are estimates of activity, not a verified count of individual people.

Information in your browser

Recent DNS domains are stored in your browser and can be removed with Clear. Pasted DKIM headers are processed locally; only the extracted domain and selector are submitted. Copy/export actions save information only when you choose them.

Sources and operator

Country and ASN estimates use DB-IP Lite data, attributed below. Starlink comparisons use its published geofeed. Registry data comes from public RIR RDAP services. Geolocation estimates can differ from those used by other services.
